Java Kayumas Taman Dadar

$ 19.99

One Real 16oz. Pound

The Surya Abadi Kayumas cooperative, which operates around the village of Kayumas on the island of Java, Indonesia, is an example of organic coffee production on small plots, which is atypical in a region dominated by sizeable government-run coffee estates established by the Dutch in the 18th century.

Java Taman Dadar coffee is grown by small family farms whose average land size is around 5 acres. Through the Surya Abadi Kayumas cooperative, farmers also have access to credit and income diversification programs.

Our earliest coffee memories are synonymous with Java, and for a good reason. The origin produces a fantastic coffee with a deep, rich body filled with traditional flavors of toffee and chocolate. In addition, Taman Dadar's exceptional modern milling practices produce an amazingly clean, snappy finish.

Nose: Sweet, Vanilla, Hops
Cup: Earthy, Full, Bold, Creamy

Java Taman Dadar is sourced from family-owned farms near Curah Tatal and Kayumas villages in Java, Indonesia. In the 17th Century, Java coffee was first cultivated in low-lying areas. By the late 19th Century, coffee leaf rust had destroyed production, forcing new coffee cultivation into the highlands where high altitudes and volcanic soil provide perfect growing conditions.

Smallholder organic coffee production is atypical of the region, which is dominated by sizable government-run coffee estates established by the Dutch in the 18th Century.

 Taman Dadar, meaning flower garden, describes how smallholder coffee is cultivated, colorfully intercropped with avocados, erythrina, albizia, and Leucaena trees, which produce food for local consumption and shade.

Java Taman Dadar is wet-hulled, a uniquely Indonesian processing method in which the coffee parchment is removed before the final drying. This produces the hallmark Indonesian flavor.

Java joy

At Seth’s personal recommendation I tried the Java. Really full body beautiful! Not many coffee roasters pick up the phone and call you when you’re upset because your favorite coffee isn’t available!
during these wild times we’re all having to rethink everything we do and the coffee industry is hit hard as well !
thanks Bisbee Roasters!

My Favorite OBR coffee

I wish it was available year round. I always make sure to order this one when it becomes available on the website. Roasted exactly how I like, which is medium dark, but closer to dark than medium. It's very hard to find a medium dark roast because most roasters do only a medium or a dark, but not a medium dark. Thank you guys for roasting the coffee how you do, keep up the good work.

I love Old Bisbee Roasters.

I don't even know how long it is that I've been ordering my coffee beans from Seth, but I bet he could tally it up. 15 years? 20? Help me out here, Seth. As some other reviewers have commented, this coffee never disappoints. I love the variety, the in-depth descriptions, the annual opportunity for Holiday Blend, the smell of my mailbox when my 2 lbs. arrive. Even my mail carrier has commented. This is my go-to gift for the holidays, for housewarmings, for people who are hosting me, for young people in my life who are setting up their own first kitchens. The price is fair, the practices are sound, and the shipping is free. As long as I'm around, I'll be getting my beans from Seth.
