Coffee cultivation in Huehuetenango faces numerous challenges due to the rugged terrain and extreme weather. Despite this, indigenous families owning farms averaging just a few acres have partnered with UNEX, an export company, to overcome these hurdles.

Utilizing their micro-mills, each family carefully selects, depulps, ferments, and dries their coffee, ensuring exceptional quality.

UNEX maintains a centralized warehouse to store dried parchment before transporting it over rough roads to Guatemala City for export.

Additionally, UNEX offers technical assistance for organic farming practices, reducing transportation costs by utilizing coffee pulp for organic fertilizers, resulting in better yields and quality.

UNEX also established funds for mobile clinics that deliver healthcare to the most remote indigenous communities.

Central America

Central America has so many great coffee plantations and while it seems to be unfair to just pick one over another, Guatemala exports one of the greatest coffees. And pair this with Seth's roasting knowledge it is a win/win.

Guatemala coffee

Loved the rich flavor of the Guatemala coffee…this is the best place to sample espresso’s and find your flavor! We like the coffee from Ethiopia too. No after taste on these flavors 😎

Not as flavorful in my opinion as more robust coffees

Maybe my opinion is above is related to my Tanzania Peaberry Coffee, which I love in all respects.
