Sulawesi Toraja

$ 18.00

One Real 16oz. Pound

Sulawesi is back!   Like an old friend, we pick up where we left off yet discover new qualities we love.  The most distinguished Sulawesi coffee is Toraja, which is as ancient and mysterious as the Indonesian Islands.  Sulawesi Toraja is full-bodied, rich, and bursting with expansive flavor.  This is a deep, brooding cup of coffee.  This is big, bold, and earthy!   If you love Sumatran coffee, you will adore Sulawesi's rich, earthy, and highly regarded specialty coffee offering.

It starts with aromas of chocolate and dark fruit. The cup plunges into earthy depths with a touch of smokiness. The lingering finish reveals a hint of ripe fruit and dark chocolate.

Aroma:  Earthy, Sweet Snuff
Cup:
Sharp, Nectarous Stone Fruit
Finish:
Lingering, Ripe Fruit, Dark Chocolate

Sulawesi Toraja Sapan Grade 1 is sourced from 23 family-owned farms organized around the Toraja Coffee Farmers' Cooperative located in the central mountain region of the South Sulawesi province on Sulawesi Island (formerly known as Celebes), Indonesia.  Sulawesi is a starfish-shaped island, far older than the rest of the Indonesian archipelago, with a complex geography, including thousand-foot rock walls exploding vertically out of rice paddy fields and capped in perpetual mist. The Toraja people are an indigenous group with a traditional village lifestyle that includes houses resembling boats and animist rituals called aluk to dolo (the way of the ancestors) reminiscent of Santeria.

In recent years the Toraja Coffee Growers Cooperative has been collaborating with an NGO called VECO, which is dedicated to improving farmer access to better agricultural practices for quality coffee production and improving coffee farm infrastructure.  The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen farmers’ livelihoods.

Old Bisbee Roasters does it again !

OBR never disappoints.
Always intentional how and where they source. Quality, Customer Service and Delivery are all on point..
My recent order of Sulawesi Toraja is by far one of my the greatest coffee experience and I drink a lot of coffee. I only purchase whole beans, I grind and brew in my Breville Barista.

Before opening the bag I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. The aroma!

Aroma is earthy and sweet, fruity flavors and hints of Mexican Chocolate.

Thanks, Seth & Crew!
